Plaza Walls Mural Expo 2025 – Artist Terms and Conditions Agreement

This agreement ("Agreement") is entered into by and between the participating artist ("Artist") and the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate ("OMS"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, for participation in the Plaza Walls Mural Expo on September 27, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
By agreeing to these terms, the Artist confirms their participation and agrees to the following:
1. Artist Commitments
The Artist agrees to:
Transportation: Provide their own transportation to and from Oklahoma City for the event.
Attendance: Attend the Artist & Staff Dinner at 6:00P.M. on September 26, 2025.
Live Painting: Participate in live mural painting during the Mural Expo and festival on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Materials: Supply all materials, tools, and equipment necessary to complete their mural.
Optional Gallery Participation: (Optional) Submit artwork for inclusion in the Plaza Walls Gallery Exhibition. Participation is encouraged but not required.
2. Copyright and Image Usage
The Artist retains all image rights in accordance with Title 17 of the U.S. Code (The Copyright Act).
The Artist may sell, reproduce, and distribute images of their mural without restriction.
OMS and Plaza Walls are granted non-exclusive rights to use images of the murals for fair use, promotional, and commercial purposes in support of the Plaza Walls Project. This includes, but is not limited to, reproduction of images on merchandise such as postcards, prints, and other fundraising items to support OMS programming.
3. Liability and Conduct
The Artist acknowledges and accepts that they are painting at their own risk and are solely responsible for any harm or injury incurred during participation.
The Artist agrees not to create artwork that is explicit, offensive, racist, sexist, or that promotes drug use, firearms, or violence.
4. Mural Duration and Curation
The Artist understands and accepts that Plaza Walls is a rotating mural project. Murals may be painted over, altered, or removed at the discretion of OMS curators, without prior notice.
The intended lifespan of murals is approximately 1 year for wall murals and 8 months for fence panel murals.
5. Photography Licensing
Independent photographers earning less than $100,000 annually may purchase a photography license through Plaza Walls for portrait or session photography in front of the murals.
Commercial photographers serving corporate clients with annual income over $250,000 must obtain licensing both from the Artist and OMS.
6. Property and Business Usage
Property Owners on whose buildings murals are painted are granted a limited-use license to share mural images for non-commercial purposes, including marketing their properties via websites, presentations, or social media. Property Owners may not reproduce the artwork for resale in any form.
Plaza District businesses may share images of the murals as part of their business promotion through social media and digital channels. Business owners may not reproduce the artwork for resale in any form without licensing through the artist directly.
Acknowledgment and Acceptance
By checking the box on the form labeled “I have read and agree to the terms and conditions,” the Artist confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms set forth in this Agreement.
